Day Shift
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Respiratory Care Supervisor, supervises, organizes and coordinates the clinical and technical aspects of services rendered to ensure the delivery of quality services.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education
Must be a graduate of a Respiratory Care Program from an accredited American Medical Association (AMA) program. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care preferred.
Experience
Must have five (5) years of respiratory care experience to include two (2) years of experience in a critical care environment with Adults, and/or pediatric and/or neonatal patients.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Certification/Registration/Licensure
Must have a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the Texas Medical Board.
Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following: - American Heart Association - American Red Cross Rescuer - Military Training Network - Prefer certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Must be able to perform Point of Care Testing.
Responsibilities
1. Selects, trains, motivates, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff behaviors and performance to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities, appropriate staffing coverages and optimal service to both internal and external customers. Instructs and provides consultation to new employees, residents, students, physicians, and other personnel. Serves as a resource for patients, assigned staff and other hospital personnel as needed. 2. Promotes adherence by other personnel to all policies and procedures, and nationally recognized standards of practice. 3. Creates staffing assignments as established with Respiratory Care Department guidelines to meet productivity targets as appropriate. Revise assignments during the shift and make changes as necessary to meet the specific needs of the patients on a shift by shift basis. Assures financial stewardship. 4. Demonstrates due diligence in effective problem solving by collaborating with staff to ensure effective resolution of identified issues during the shift. Intervenes and problem solves for inter/intra- departmental issues, facilitating interdepartmental communication, negotiation, and decision-making. Utilizes chain of command for unresolved or escalating issues as needed. Advocates for patients and staff to provide for safe delivery of care and/or a safe environment of care. 5. Coordinates personal self-scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage for department needs. Demonstrates scheduling flexibility and willingly provides coverage during shifts when staffing crisis/shortage occurs. Maintains direct care clinical competencies. 6. Actively participates in routine and special staff meetings, special projects and the development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Communicates data and solicits input from staff regarding performance and quality improvement including patient safety and infection control. 7. Ensures staff and departmental regulatory compliance and survey readiness by arranging service delivery demonstrating sound judgment, participating in auditing, reviews and other assessments as indicated. 8. Collaborates with supply chain leadership to ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available to meet real time service needs in all hospital areas. 9. Assists in the development in and monitoring of annual budgets that ensure the department has the necessary funds to carry out the goals and objectives that have been established for the department.
