JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsible for performing the most advanced level of Neurodiagnostic procedures to ensure optimal provision of services.

 

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education/Experience:

- Must have six years of advanced Neurophysiology experience to include EEG, evoked potentials, sleep or epilepsy monitoring OR have graduated from an accredited school of EEG/Neurodiagnostic technology plus four years of experience.

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure

 Must have a current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification before date of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:

  • American Heart Association
  • American Red Cross
  • Military Training Network

- Current incumbents in the role as of 8/1/2023 must obtain a health care provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification no later than 11/31/2023.

 

Laboratory or Epilepsy Monitoring:

Must be registered by the American Board of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET) as a registered EEG Technologist (REEGT).

 

Intraoperative Monitoring:

Must be registered by ABRET as a Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (REPT),

OR Must be certified in Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM).

 

 EMG Laboratory:

Must be registered by American Society of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (AAET) as a Registered Electrodiagnostic Technologist (REDT).

 

Sleep Lab:

Must be registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).

 

Skills or Special Abilities:

- Must be able to perform routine and advanced Neurodiagnostic procedures independently following established department procedures.

- Must be able to demonstrate an expert knowledge regarding advanced neurophysiology techniques.

- Must be able to respond appropriately in all patient-related situations.

- Must be able to work with physicians on assessing new techniques and recommending changes as indicated.

- Must be able to work with personal computers including word processing, spread sheets and databases.

- Must have good communication skills necessary in handling difficult and severely ill patients.

- Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.

- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
