Provides comprehensive individual and group based nutritional and diabetes self-management assessment and counseling for people living with diabetes and associated conditions within a specialist multidisciplinary diabetes team at Parkland


-Must have a Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition.

-Must have two years clinical dietetic experience working with people with diabetes and associated conditions.
-Must have one year or related dietetic experience in an acute care setting through an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (A.N.D.) coordinated undergraduate program or internship program.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:
-May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

-Must be a registered dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (A.N.D.).
and be licensed to practice dietetics by the Texas Board of Dietitians.
-Must be a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators OR eligible to attain credential within 12 months of placement in job.

Skills or Special Abilities:
-Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with departmental personnel, hospital staff, and patients.
-Bilingual (oral and writing) in Spanish preferred.
-Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills with a working knowledge of data base programs, data report analysis software, and electronic medical record charting.
-An advance knowledge of nutrition and patient education skills preferred.
-Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors
