Responsible for orientation, training, remediation, and continuing education of radiologic technologists, and for routinely checking quality assurance of radiographs taken by technologists to ensure that all radiographs consistently meet high quality, regulatory, statuary and PHHS standards of practice.

 

Education

•Must be a graduate of a JCERT accredited school or program.

•Must be a graduate of an accredited university with a Bachelor's degree preferable in imaging.

 

Experience

Must have five years experience teaching, to include comprehensive experience in the specific instructional area.

 

Equivalent Education and/or Experience: None

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure

•Must have current certification from at least one of the following ARRT, CNMT, and/or RDMS.

•Additionally the Texas Medical Board license is required for those holding ARRT and CNMT certifications.

•Must be able to demonstrate effective teaching skills.

•Must be able to communicate effectively with professional, medical, nursing, and allied health professional staffs attending or lecturing in classes.

•Must have superior writing skills to compose course outlines, objectives and manuals.

•Must demonstrate competence in technical skills and knowledge related to assigned area.

•Must be organized and creative in the educational process for individual, small-group and large-group classes.

•Must demonstrate patient-centered/patient valued behaviors.

•May also be required to demonstrate skill in use of audio-visual, video and other presentation equipment.

 

Responsibilities

 

1.           Implements regulatory, statuary and PHHS radiology standards of practice by daily examination and review of radiographs for quality of film image and communicates the resulting repeats to radiologic technologists with corrective feedback, ensuring that radiographs are repeated and rechecked so that high quality radiographs are consistently produced for patient diagnosis.

2.           Develops needed training materials, designs, delivers and evaluates individual, small group, large group, orientation, in-service, continuing education and weekly remediation, campus wide and area specific programs to ensure continuing development of radiologic technologists. Liaises with external speakers as needed and oversees coordination of all training program schedules.

3.           Develops or obtains and modifies needed CPR training materials, designs, delivers and evaluates small and large group CPR certification and CPR recertification courses for radiologic technologists, campus wide. Maintains a computerized database of PHHS radiologic technologist CPR certification status and periodically notifies each radiologic technologist of CPR recertification status to ensure adherence to regulatory, statutory and mandatory PHHS standards.

4.           Acts as a consultative training resource and maintains a positive working relationship with medical staff, radiologic technologists, COPCs, employees and vendors to ensure that radiologic technologists receive continuing development and that high quality radiographs are produced for patient diagnosis and satisfaction.

5.           Serves on the Infectious Control Committee, the Process Improvement Committee and other interdisciplinary committees as assigned.

2.           Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.

3.           Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
