<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">PRIMARY PURPOSE

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with established protocols and multidisciplinary plan of care utilizing independent, dependent, and interdependent interventions to restore stability, prevent complications, and achieve and maintain optimal patient responses for all patients through patient centered/patient valued care.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Education:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Experience:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must have two years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Prefer one year experience in a behavioral health setting.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Equivalent Experience:<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> -None.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Certification/Registration/Licensure:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must have current RN license or valid temporary license with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
    • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> American Heart Association
    • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">American Red Cross Rescuer
    • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Military Training Network.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must have SAMA certification, level 1-4 or must obtain within 30 days of hire or placement into job.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must have SAMA certification before first clinical orientation shift.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Skills or Special Abilities:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Provides care for assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Provides continuous assessment, consults with other team members as required and provides nursing care which demonstrates patient centered/patient valued care.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Exercises independent judgment in providing nursing care.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">May be required to communicate effectively, via the overhead paging system.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide direction to non-nursing staff, serve as a preceptor, and serve on rotation as a Charge Nurse.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to prepare and conduct in-service educational programs.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Must be able to facilitate biopsychosocial education groups that might include medication and/or health education.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">As applicable, will be required to demonstrate acceptable knowledge of nursing standards of care for specialty care area.
