Primary Purpose
Responsible for performing work in the coordination, organization, and facilitation of quality and performance improvement (PI) activities for assigned areas throughout the Health System. Will work with the department leadership to provide enterprise-wide skills and guidance related to quality and process improvement methodologies. Primary driver of performance improvement projects at all levels in the organization. Leverages data to drive PI projects in assigned areas and within cross-functional teams. Identifies trends and key areas for continuous improvement, and effectively prioritizes project lifecycle and workload. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission and values.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- Must have at least three (3) years of quality/performance improvement experience preferably in a healthcare setting with one (1) year experience utilizing Lean/Six Sigma Methodology and Project Management.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
- An equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of specific experience and/or experience may be considered.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and
- Must attain certification as a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt within 36 months of hire
- Current Performance Improvement staff must attain certification as a Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt by May 1, 2028.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
Skills or Special Abilities
- Must demonstrate proficient command of quality and performance improvement methodologies and strategies using evidence-based best practices.
- Must demonstrate proficient command of Project Management processes and methodology.
- Must have excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Must be able to work well independently and within an interdisciplinary team structure while managing multiple projects and timelines.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access.
- Must be familiar with and/or have working knowledge of statistical software such as QI Macros, Minitab, etc.
- Must have a high degree of flexibility and adaptability.
- Demonstrates understanding and implementation of high-reliability principles through use of tools and behaviors that promote patient/employee safety within a wide range of clinical and non-clinical environments.
- Must be able to apply professional judgment as needed to prioritize work to achieve a consistent professional written work product and optimal productivity.
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent professional etiquette, and adherence to the behavioral standards, dress code, attendance policy and code of conduct at all times.
Responsibilities
- Research and provide analysis, reports, and recommendations for performance improvement initiatives based on strategic and key projects as directed.
- Assists in the design of statistically appropriate metrics with clear operational definitions to monitor process improvement and stability. Collect and analyze data, identify opportunities, develop solutions, assist in implementing improvements and sustainability and spread of standardized best practices.
- Participates in multidisciplinary quality and improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in assigned meetings and committees and represents the department and health system in outreach and collaborative efforts.
- Lead project teams as requested utilizing appropriate performance improvement methodologies and data-driven decision-making across all levels across the health system.
- Prepares detailed and standardized project management plans and graphical data reports to track performance and assure timely completion and achievement of stated goals.
- Provide Lean/Six Sigma and other appropriate improvement tools and training as needed to project team members and other identified stakeholders.
- Identify barriers to project success and solicits solutions from leadership and champions when needed.
Job Accountabilities
- Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
- Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.to ensure proper understanding.
