Primary Purpose

Serves as primary resource to the Payroll Department to maintain security of the time and attendance system and ensure efficient processing of payroll records for Parkland employees. Responsible for providing back up to Payroll Coordinators & Supervisor as needed.

 

Minimum Specifications

 

Education

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

 

Experience

  • Must have three years of payroll experience.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have effective interpersonal skills and be able to relate well with diverse groups of employees.

  • Must be able to compute basic math quickly and accurately.

Responsibilities

  1. Assures adherence to PHHS payroll policies, directives and procedures by monitoring payroll activities and serving as resource person for complex time and attendance and payroll issues.
  2. Serves as the primary backup resource to the Payroll Coordinators to assure timely processing of payroll records.
  3. Assists in the biweekly payroll cycle by processing complex payroll corrections to ensure payroll accuracy.
  4. Processes garnishments, mileage, and business reimbursements in a timely manner.
  5. Assures the distribution of reports after payroll is confirmed.
  6. Reviews and monitors payroll deductions and engages in review and research of the payroll system to assist general ledger staff in reconciling deduction accounts to ensure accurate reporting through the general ledger interface.
  7. Assists with special projects such as implementation of new payroll systems or processes, as assigned, to ensure support of overall goals and mission of Parkland.
  8. Maintains monthly reporting of statistical data within the Payroll Processing department to ensure accurate review and analysis of departmental functions.
  9. Maintains a positive working relationship with management, vendors, and employees to ensure accurate, timely and efficient payroll operations.
  10. Processes the secondary payroll on a bi-weekly basis.

 

Job Accountabilities

  1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
