Primary Purpose
Serves as the work level expert coordinating the administrative and professional support services of the Medical Staff Professional Services and Regulatory Affairs area with respect to the man-agement of Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE) activities, ensuring Parkland maintains com-pliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation entities.
Minimum Specifications


Education

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED.

 

Experience

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in a medical staff ser-vices environment, to include two years of experience in credentialing.

 

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the experience requirements.

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure
None.

Skills or Special Abilities

  • Knowledge of accreditation standards, privileging and credentialing processes and requirements.
  • Basic knowledge with privileging and the privileging process.
  • Familiar with the standards involving Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to communicate effec-tively with medical staff and hospital personnel.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Must be highly organized, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Must be able to prepare project schedules and meet goals within specified timelines.
  • Must be able to build effective team relationships with physician leaders and team members.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Serves as a resource in the preparation, analysis, and processing of professional practice documents for hospital while providing optimal services to internal and ex-ternal customers. Generates reports, demographics, statistical information, appoint-ments, staff roster, etc. to satisfy various departmental requests that support the mis-sion, goals and objectives of the hospital and Parkland.
  2. Maintains open communications, serving as a resource for issues of sensitivity, problem solving, or confidentiality. Maintains and updates confidential quality files on all medical staff/allied health staff members while maintaining a positive working relationship with all internal and external contacts.
  3. Maintains and updates data base/master roster of medical/allied health staff as is applicable to the responsibilities of the Medical Staff Professional Services & Regu-latory Affairs Department. Utilizes credentialing database and mainframe software programs.
  4. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  5. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Medical Staff Professional Services by attending seminars/workshops and read-ing professional journals as needed and/or required. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  6. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the MSPS & Regulatory Affairs area. Develops effective internal con-trols designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal/state/private health plans. Seeks advice and guid-ance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
  7. Attends meetings, assisting with the meeting communications, agendas, minutes, and other handouts as needed. Schedules appointments, maintains calendars, and coordinates meetings as requested. Maintains the project schedules and timelines, preparing reports as needed.
  8. Manages small group projects for assigned customers, while maintaining positive re-lationships. Plans and coordinates activities with Team Leads and staff members as needed. Serves as a resource for departmental activities in data collection, report management and research as needed. Assists with surveys as requested.
  9. Assists in staff orientation and training in all applicable standards.

Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
