Summary
Responsible for managing Outreach Education program by providing program design, implementation, and evaluation of program initiatives to the designated service.
Responsibilities
1. Manages the Outreach Educational program and ensures compliance with specialty area requirements. Provides program design as needed and serves on committees as requested to serve as
an active contributor and participant in achieving department related educational goals as defined by the organization.
2. Implements, monitors, evaluates and reports on details regarding the Outreach Educational program to the department Performance Improvement Committees as applicable.
3. Assists in the development of the on-going continuing education programs and assists the Program Director with defining the continuing educational programs to meet community needs while
maintaining a database and calendar for all Outreach Education program as needed.
4. Serves as the specialty program community liaison and resource person by providing public speaking and educational programs that support the mission, goals and objectives of Parkland. Coordinates
community based education programs provided by department.
5. Serves as liaison for external customers including follow-up on transfers out of Parkland.
6. Develops and presents patient interventions and education programs pertaining to specialty area for patients and staff, while providing patient centered/patient valued care for all internal and external
customers. Collaborates with unit based educators on staff education.
7. Assists with developing, revising, and monitoring annual goals, objectives, and budget for the Outreach Education program, that support the overall missions and objectives of Parkland.

The majority of time is spent on the delivery of clinical care. May spend a portion of their time on implementation or design of clinical processes, programs, services and policies. Senior clinical roles, such as physicians, may also spend ~20% of their overall time on managerial responsibilities; however, the majority of their time is spent on direct patient care.

Degree/License
- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and may require a master’s degree in a related clinical field
- Requires clinical license and/or certification typically obtained through advanced education and advanced practical knowledge of job area obtained through extensive clinical experience
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing
- Must have four years of progressive nursing experience in specialty area
- Applicants must pass (85% or above) Dosage Calculation Exam prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Dosage Calculation Exam on
file.
Required Certifications/Licensure
- Must have a current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
- Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross
- Military Training Network
• Burn Only
- Must have certification in Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS),or obtain within 6 months of inhire.
- Must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Must maintain an instructor status in ABLS,or obtain within 18 months of in-hire.
• WISH Only
- Must have certification in either Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
