Establishes and maintains an efficient, cost effective nurse home visitation program focused on providing services identified through the nursing assessment process to assist clients in improving their health, well being, parenting skills and achieving self sufficiency.


-Must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

-Must have one to two year¿s experience in maternal/child health, public health or home visitation.

Equivalent Experience
-May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the required education or experience.

-Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
-Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
o American Heart Association
o American Red Cross
o Military Training Network
Required Tests for Placement:
-Applicants must pass (85% or above) Dosage Calculation Exam prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Dosage Calculation Exam on file.

Skills or Special Abilities:
-Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
-Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse group of patients, families and healthcare staff.
-Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of specific patient populations, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of disease processes affecting this group.
-Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of PC operations and the ability to use word processing software in a Windows environment.
-Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the regulations governing Medicaid.
-Must be self-directed and capable of priority setting and problem solving.
-Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
-Must be proficient in infant physical assessments.

Healthy Outcomes through Prevention & Early Support (HOPES) Grant Funded Positions Only:

-Prefer bilingual (Spanish).
-Additional background checks in addition to background checks required by Parkland for all employees. Must receive clearance through the following additional background checks:
-Department of Public Safety; and
-Department of Family and Protective Services; and
-If lived outside of Texas in last 5 years ¿ FBI Fingerprint Check.
