Primary Purpose

Performs routine and complex Neurodiagnostic and/or Sleep diagnostic procedures for patients as directed, providing physicians diagnostic tools with which to treat patients.

 

Minimum Specifications

Education

Diploma in Neurodiagnostic or Sleep Technology from an accredited school or program - OR

Associate of Applied Science degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Sleep Technology, or Sleep Diagnostics from an accredited school.

 

Experience

- Must have two (2) years of technical Neurodiagnostic, and or Sleep diagnostic experience.

 

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

- May have an equivalent experience in lieu of specific education as stated above

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure

- Must be registered by the American Board of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET) as a registered EEG Technologist (REEGT)- OR

 - Must be registered by ABRET as a Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (REPT) - OR

- Must be certified in Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM). - OR

- Must be registered by American Society of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (AAET) as a Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) - OR

 - Must be registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) -OR

 - Must be registered by The American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) -OR

- Must be RRT/CRT by The National Board for Respiratory Care with Sleep Disorders Specialist Certification (RRT-SDS or CRT-SDS) -OR

- Must have Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Clinical Sleep Health Educator (CCSH).

- Must have a current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR card before date of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:

  • American Heart Association
  • American Red Cross
  • Rescuer Military Training Network

- Current incumbents in the role as of 8/1/2023 must obtain a health care provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification no later than 11/31/2023.

 

Required Tests for Placement Skills or Special Abilities

- Must be able to perform routine and advanced Neurodiagnostic, and or Sleep Diagnostic procedures - Independently following established department procedures.

- Must be able to respond appropriately in all patient-related situations.

- Must be able to work with computerized Neurodiagnostic, and or Sleep diagnostic equipment

- Must have good communication skills necessary in handling difficult and severely ill patients

 - Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.

- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

 

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the performance and monitoring of routine, complex and special Neurodiagnostic and or Sleep diagnostic procedures for use by physicians as a diagnostic tool. Assist physicians with special procedures as needed.

- Maintains a positive working relationship with other employees, physicians, patients and family members to ensure patients comfort and expediency of testing procedures.

- Assists with special projects and monthly quality management monitoring.

- Maintains and troubleshoots equipment to ensure effective operation.

- Maintains and troubleshoots equipment to ensure effective operation.

- Follows established infection control guidelines.
