PRIMARY PURPOSE Responsible for performing network design & analysis of existing and new architectures, routing and restoration approaches: developing systems specifications, technical implementation plans and coordinating complex installation projects with clients and vendors without supervision. The role will provide support for the existing and future network infrastructure to meet business objectives and SLAs.

 

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS 

Education  

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field.  

 

Experience 

  • Five years of network support, operations and/or planning experience working in a multi-LAN/MAN/WAN environment designing and implementing network configurations.  

  • Cisco wireless networking experience preferred.  

  • Cisco ISE experience preferred.  

  • Cisco DNA/DNAC experience preferred.  

  • Security/Firewall appliance experience preferred.  

  • In depth understanding of networking, routing, and routed protocols.  

  • Solid understanding of the OIS and TCP/IP model.  

  • Experience with network monitoring, network diagnostic, and network/packet analytics tools. 

  

Equivalent Education and/or Experience 

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above. 

  

Certification/Registration/Licensure 

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or greater preferred but not required. 

  

Skills or Special Abilities 

  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Must have an operational understanding of complex network environments. 

  • Must be able to demonstrate both analytical and statistical skills. 

  • Must have personal computer skills in PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Word, and Excel Visio software. 

  • Must be customer service oriented. 

  • Must have ability to lead complex and large projects from beginning to completion, including design, implementation, troubleshooting and support. 

  • Must be able to lead, mentor and be a reference to other hospital staff. Evaluates, designs, implements, troubleshoots, and supports complex existing network systems and makes recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels. 

  • Serves as a lead worker and mentor to departmental staff. Is considered a subject matter expert and is a reference for other hospital staff. 

  • Provides highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture. Develops technical standards for projects as needed. 

  • Identifies and evaluates new products and provides resolution for network problems as needed. Assists in proactively identifying network issues. 

  • Interfaces with vendors to identify and recommend the purchase of hardware and software. 

  • Assists in providing oversight of Network Services outsourcing partner, including review of monthly SLA (Service Level Agreements) reporting, and other operational reports as required. 

  • Serves as a technical resource on network planning projects as needed. Maintains a positive working relationship with management, customers, vendors, peers, and other employees to ensure that network systems function efficiently and meet the needs of the users. 

  • Participate in network services departmental on-call rotation. 

  • Create/maintain network related documentation. 

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades as needed/required. 

  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability. 

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning. 

  • Other duties as assigned/required. 

  

Responsibilities 

  1. Evaluates, designs, implements, troubleshoots and supports, complex existing network systems and makes recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels.  

  1. Responsible for wireless networks, performing wireless coverage surveys, troubleshooting (client and network), upgrades, management and testing.  

  1. Responsible for Network Access Control systems, ensuring that devices accessing the network are in the appropriate roles and have the appropriate access. Performing, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting (client and network), management and testing. Serves as a lead worker and mentor to departmental staff. Is considered a subject matter expert and is a reference to other hospital staff.  

  1. Provides highly skilled technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture.  

  1. Develops technical standards for projects as needed.  

  1. Monitors and maintains network devices utilizing appropriate tools.  

  1. Identifies and evaluates new products, and provides resolution for network problems as needed. Assists in proactively identifying network issues.
