PRIMARY PURPOSE Provides language assistance for patient, family members and medical staff in terms of interpretation of intake, treatment and discharge procedures with translation of related documentation, and resolved patient complaints to promote customer satisfaction. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education: - High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: - Must have two years of experience in a patient service environment or equivalent education. Equivalent Education and/or Experience: - May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the experience requirements. Certification/Registration/Licensure: - None Skills or Special Abilities: -Must successfully complete the Parkland Health & Hospital System language/medical terminology proficiency examination in English and Spanish with a minimum score of 80% per section prior to employment. -Must adhere to the Medical Interpreter Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. -Must be able to speak, read and write both English and Spanish. -Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with patients, families, and hospital staff. -Must have an intermediate knowledge of medical terminology and medical procedures. -Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors. -Must be able to provide video and audio interpretation in Call Center environment. -Maintains acceptable productivity and quality standards as established by management to ensure the Call Center operates effectively and efficiently. -Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of personal computers, software packages, and standard office equipment. -Must be able to successfully complete additional job related training when offered. -Must be able to function in a team environment.
