Provides pharmacy services to patients, nurses, physicians, and other medical staff by interpreting and evaluating the validity and safety of orders and prescriptions. Integrates core pharmacy knowledge dispensing and order review activities.

Inpatient Clinical Staff Pharmacist in Investigational Drug Services 10005729 The Investigational Drug Service (IDS) is a very unique, specialized, customer service oriented practice area within the Department of Pharmacy. The IDS provides pharmacy related needs for drug studies conducted for Parkland Hospital patients and is responsible for ensuring regulatory requirements set by FDA, state, JCAHO, CMS and others are met.

The IDS team works closely with UT Southwestern Medical Center physicians, nurses, study coordinators, decentralized pharmacy team, NIH, and pharmaceutical companies to provide the pharmacy related services for approved Parkland drug studies.

The IDS pharmacists responsibilities include but are not limited to study protocol review, preparation of study synopsis for pharmacy staff, study drug preparation and dispensation, clinical intervention (i.e., laboratory results evaluation and dosage adjustment, drug interaction) and appropriate documentation, financial and budgeting information, drug accountability, education of pharmacy and nursing staff and attending study initiation visits.

 

Preferred oncology or hospital experience.

 

 

 

Education:
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- Must be a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas.
- Skills or Special Abilities:
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must possess knowledge of drugs, procedure, equipment, common disease states and patient care monitoring within the assigned care areas.
- Must possess extensive mathematical skills.
- Must possess good organizational skills.
