PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for a variety of advanced repair, preventative maintenance tasks, and maintenance documentation on various Dietary departmental equipment (including commercial food service equipment, tray washers, food carts, tray belt systems, steam cookers, and ovens), while serving as a resource to ensure that all equipment is safe and operational.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:
- None

Experience:
- Must have four years of experience in maintenance and repair of commercial food service equipment such as tray washers, food carts, tray belt systems, steam cookers, and ovens.
- Must have one year of experience working with plumbing, HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning), electrical, lighting, and equipment maintenance.
- Must have one year of general building maintenance experience in a healthcare environment.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:
- May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- None

Skills or Special Abilities:
- Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of commonly accepted practices used in repair of light and heavy industrial equipment, including commercial food service equipment.
- Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of proper safety procedures.
- Must possess a thorough working knowledge of plumbing and electrical (including lighting, equipment, and controls) maintenance functions.
- Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the proper use of power and hand tools.
- Must be able to assist with training other employees regarding repair and maintenance functions.
- Must be able to demonstrate intermediate level skill in repair welding.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with department and Hospital personnel, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and technical instruction manuals.
- Must be able to prepare estimates for work required.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be physically able to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.
