Primary Purpose

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager works closely with the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to manage and execute Parkland’s strategic priorities for DEI. The Program Manager assists, develops, and manages programs, services and initiatives designed to enhance DEI initiatives, achieve community health strategic goals, improve cultural competency of staff and care teams, and participate in civic and community networking.  The DEI Program Manager provides guidance and support to Parkland departments to further evolve and promote Parkland’s commitment to DEI.

 

Minimum Specifications

 

Education

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources management, or a related field.

 

Experience

  • Must have five (5) years of progressive experience in the area of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Must have three (3) years of relevant work experience in program/project management.
  • Must have three (3) years of experience developing and leading successful employee resource group programs.
  • Previous experience leading Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team engagements with senior leaders and teams, including human resource business partners.

 

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

 

Certification/Registration/Licensure

  • DEI Certificate or Certification required (or must obtain within 24 months of placement in the role).
  • Project Management Certification desired.

  • Must be able to facilitate learning interventions.
  • Must have exposure to design and implementation of high potential development programs and succession planning.

Responsibilities

  1. Manages Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Programs to include executing initiatives to drive a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Collaborates with system leaders and their teams to ensure an impactful implementation of such strategy.
  2. Provides professional support along with the Director of DEI to develop, implement, and facilitate online and instructor led professional development programs and activities that incorporate technology and experiential learning for a system wide audience.
  3. Provides expertise and guidance, coaching, mentoring and coordination for cultural competence education as defined in the Enhanced National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Health and Healthcare.
  4. Coordinates with other departments on DEI related initiatives including job fairs, health fairs, benchmarking assessments, surveys, and competitive and marketplace research on DEI trends.
  5. Partners in executing workforce DEI strategies.
  6. Leads and/or co-leads team effectiveness engagements including diagnosis, design, intervention, and evaluation with a focus on enhancing employee engagement and patient satisfaction.
  7. Assist to develop, implement, and oversee Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to increase employee engagement, market awareness, and their impact on business.
  8. Works with internal stakeholders to monitor and analyze trends e.g., geo-map or hot-spot geographic areas with a high density of morbidity and high readmission rates, identify social determinants of health, and provide timely information on individuals and groups for whom quality improvement or other interventions can be directed.
  9. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of DEI by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and actively participating in professional organizations. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  10. Serves as a liaison between Parkland and external stakeholders through communication, as well as serving on committees.
  11. Assures the quality of educational offerings through the creation and implementation of evaluation processes. Assists in creating measurement systems to track outcomes of initiatives and programs.
  12. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the DEI department. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
  13. Oversees and manages the production of brochures, newsletters and internal/external website content relating to Parkland’s diverse and inclusive initiatives.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
