Primary Purpose
Develop, implement, and administer the benefit plans and programs of the organization to include ongoing maintenance, communication, and coordination. Serve as a lead and resource within the benefits team. Responsible for facilitating and ensuring organizational compliance with all applicable conditions, rules, policies, and regulatory requirements.  Serve as a lead resource to third-party vendors and employees. Provide information and assistance in resolving moderately complex employee and vendor issues.  Provide input in the design, modification, addition, and removal of benefit plans and programs. Review and analyze benefit utilization and inclusion, and assist in ensuring efficiency in expense management and ROI maximization.  Apply a total rewards philosophy within the benefits program to successfully attract, retain, and motivate talent.
 

Minimum Specifications


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.

 

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience administering a moderately complex employer sponsored benefit program as a Benefits Administrator or similar role.
  • Applicable experience within the healthcare industry is preferred.
     

Equivalent Education and/or Experience
 

Certification/Registration/Licensure

  • Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) through WorldatWork is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements impacting employer sponsored benefit plans (i.e., PPACA and ERISA).
  • Strong knowledge of health and wellness programs.
  • Strong knowledge of qualified/non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to include the ability to effectively communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully interact with various personality types at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to utilize root-cause analysis to identify solutions.
  • Public speaking skills and the ability to comfortably speak in front of small and large groups.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for developing, administering, coordinating, and maintaining benefit programs while ensuring compliance with policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
  2. Maintain positive working relationships with employees by serving as a resource for benefit related issues, ensuring that employees and vendors receive accurate information and education.
  3. Conduct market research and analysis to identify employer sponsored benefit program trends; evaluate existing benefit plans to determine ROI and identify opportunities for improvement/change; monitor plan/program expenses and make recommendations on opportunities to maximize organizational expense management.
  4. Coordinate and maintain program documents for the organizations benefit programs to ensure each are operating effectively and efficiently.
  5. Seek to improve processes and employee satisfaction; make recommendations to supervisor in support of the overall goals and mission of the organization.
  6. Maintain an up-to-date knowledgebase of developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Benefits Administration; integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  7. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, policies, and legal guidelines that impact employer sponsored benefits; assist in developing effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, to include organizational accreditation requirements.
  8. Serve as a lead within the benefits team; provide guidance and direction to team members, may provide input during the selection and performance evaluation process; serve as the primary point-of-contact for benefit related matters in the absence of the Director.
  9. Provide training to benefit team members as deemed appropriate.
  10. Other duties as deemed necessary or appropriate based on organization, division, and/or department needs.

 

Job Accountabilities:

  1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
